Habitat For Humanity Seneca County

Habitat for Humanity of Seneca County, NY, is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization.

Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build homes or renovate existing homes to create decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged. Mortgage payments received by the affiliate are used to build more homes.

Everyone can be part of the Habitat mission to eliminate substandard housing, even if you don't know how to build. In addition to construction work, volunteers are needed for a wide variety of activities including supporting construction, working with families, raising money and carrying out other activities of the affiliate.

Seneca County Habitat for Humanity Dedicates a New Home
The family will be in their new home for Christmas

Seneca Falls, N.Y. – The Seneca County Habitat for Humanity board announced today that the home its volunteers have been building since May is now complete. The home, located at 36 Haigh Street in Seneca Falls, will be dedicated on Thursday, December 8th at 5:30pm.

The event will be a celebration of countless hours of hard work by numerous volunteers and the family. This year’s family, Nina Figueroa, Colby Grillone, their six year old son Jameson, and nine month old daughter Italia, will be home for the holidays this year.

“On behalf of Habitat for Humanity of Seneca County Board of Directors, we are thrilled to be able to turn over the keys to their new home to Nina and Colby this holiday season. The family has worked hard, investing more than 400 hours. They will buy the home from us at about what it cost Habitat to build it. We are very grateful to the many volunteers and sponsors in our community who have given so generously of their time, talents and resources.
